Shelter Insurance has contacted all of its agents, giving them each $1000 to donate to a charity of their choice. Shelter Insurance agent Caleb Staggs, whose office is at 135 Pinecrest Drive in Morehead, contacted Rowan County Schools to let them know that he would be donating his check from Shelter Insurance to the District’s Family Resource and Youth Service Centers to help them continue their Backpack Snack program.
Rowan County Schools Superintendent John Maxey stated, “We can’t thank Mr. Staggs enough for his generosity and for the generosity of Shelter Insurance. We have a lot of families who are going through some very difficult times right now with this pandemic and all the closures. This donation will help our Family Resource and Youth Service Center directors and staff to continue assisting families in need.”
Mr. Staggs will also be setting up a table outside his office at 135 Pinecrest Drivenext to Dominos Pizza to collect food items to be made available to families in need. Items to be collected include canned foods, Pop Tarts, granola bars, cereal, fruit, etc. (If it is raining, the table will be put outside the next day.)
People are welcome to take what they need, but they are also encouraged to leave what they can for other families in need. Donations of money can also be made by putting the money in an envelope and putting it in the drop box of Mr. Staggs’ Shelter Insurance Office.
