District Spelling Bee scheduled for February 7th

The annual Rowan County School District Spelling Bee will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 7 PM in the Rowan County Middle School Library.  Eight students from Rowan County Schools’ four elementary schools and seven students from Rowan County Middle School have qualified to compete in the annual District Spelling Bee.  The competitors were either the winners or runners-up in their school’s spelling bees.  (Rowan County Middle School held grade-level spelling bees; the winners and runners-up qualified to compete at the District level.


This year’s spelling bee competitors are:
Ivy Caudill and Aiden Barker – Clearfield Elementary;
Brecken McCarty and Cayden Noble – McBrayer Elementary;
Caleb Allen and Kellen Beckman – Rodburn Elementary;
Jeremy Endicott and Braeden Pierce – Tilden Hogge Elementary;
Nathaniel Delapenta, Cadyn Armstrong and Ivy Litton – RCMS 6th grade (NOTE: There was a tie at the runner-up level.);
Eavie Marlow and Brayden Sammons – RCMS 7th grade; 
Aiden Johnson and John Oesch – RCMS 8th grade.


The winner of the Rowan County School District Spelling Bee will qualify to represent Rowan County Schools, competing at the state level at the Ford Motor Company Kentucky Derby Festival Spelling Bee to be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Kentucky Center for the Arts’ Bomhard Theater in Louisville, Kentucky.
