As part of its continuing commitment to support the communities they serve, AT&T was pleased to contribute $10,000 to Rowan County Senior High School at the Rowan County School District’s Back to School Employee Appreciation Luncheon on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.   The generous donation will help fund ACT preparation courses and materials and dual credit college classes for select high school seniors.

“Through the efforts of House Minority Floor Leader Rep. Rocky Adkins and the generosity of AT&T, Rowan County Senior High School will be able to help students cover the costs of ACT preparation materials or their tuition for the dual credit programs,” said Rowan County Superintendent John Maxey. “Through these strong relationships with Rep. Adkins and AT&T, we can help ensure that our students have a strong foundation for their future success.”

“Initiatives like the Rowan County School System’s college and career ready intervention program are a vital part of the equation to ensure students have every resource they need to succeed,” said House Majority Floor Leader Rocky Adkins.  “Some of the brightest minds in the Commonwealth walk the hallways of Rowan County Schools every day and I’m thrilled to see these worthy programs expanded.”

Amy Scarborough, who represents AT&T, was on hand at the Back to School Luncheon to present the check to Brandy Carver, principal of Rowan County Senior High School.  Before presenting the check, she thanked Rep. Adkins and Mrs. Carver for their continued interest in taking part in the AT&T Aspire program.  “AT&T is honored to support Rowan County Schools and their mission to educate young people.  Through Aspire, AT&T supports programs that invest in students, especially those who need it the most, so they can walk across the graduation stage ready for their future.”

“Rep. Adkins and AT&T Aspire have demonstrated their commitment to education, in general, and, in particular, to our students here at Rowan County Senior High School,” said RCSHS Principal Brandy Carver.  “This grant will enable more of our students to achieve success by helping them reach for and attain their post-high school goals.”
