Two RCSHS students compete at Nationals

Jordan Whittaker & Ansley Perryman

Ansley Perryman, daughter of Kim Reeder, and Jordan Whittaker, son of Doris Whittaker Kidd and Paul Kidd, qualified for the National Catholic Forensics League Grand National Tournament that was held on May 26-27, 2018 in Washington, D.C.  Both Ansley and Jordan are members of the Rowan County Senior High School Speech Team.  The pair qualified to compete in the Duo Interpretation event with a piece titled, “Dark Side of the Moon,” which is based on “The Ballad of Barbara Allen.”

Founded in 1951, the National Catholic Forensics League operates on the principles of open membership, welcoming students from all public and private schools in the United States and Canada.  The mission of the League is, in part, “to encourage and to assist in the development of articulate leaders through whose skills truth may be widely spread and become an influence in the life of the nation.”

Competing against 218 entries in the Duo Interpretation category, Ansley Perryman and Jordan Whittaker made it all the way to the Quarterfinals, finishing in the top 24 in their category.  Congratulations, Ansley Perryman and Jordan Whittaker.
