It is with heavy hearts that we remember Coach Keith Prater, who lost a courageous battle against leukemia. It can truly be said that he waged this battle the way he lived his life -- with dignity, with strength and with an unwavering faith. He will be missed and fondly remembered by so many people in this community and beyond.

Kindergarten Academy: A summer program for incoming Kindergarten students to learn routines/procedures and practice readiness skills.
The Rowan County Senior High School Drama Department will be presenting "The Sound of Music" beginning April 27 and running through April 30.
Kelly Ford, who has served as an assistant coach under five head coaches at Rowan County Senior High School, was named to take over the helm of the high school’s football program.
Nick Anderson and Emma Li Mathews were named Mr. & Mrs. RCSHS.
The Rowan County Senior High School established the Alumni Hall of Fame to recognize and honor alumni who bring the highest distinction to themselves, their community, and serve as a role model for the students at RCSHS. Candidates must exemplify the qualities of irreproachable character and outstanding citizenship. Candidates’ achievements will be weighed by a selection committee, which will consider favorably those whose achievements bring the greatest honor to Rowan County Senior High School.

Congratulations to the Rowan County Middle School Cheerleaders, for placing 4th at the KAPOS Cheerleading Competition, Saturday, December 17. The competition was held at the Kentucky Horse Park; Alltech Arena with over 80 elementary and middle school teams in attendance.

Nineteen members of the Rowan County Senior High School Class of 2017 will be graduating Summa Cum Laude, meaning they have maintained a GPA of 4.0 or greater during their four years at the high school.
The four principles of the National Honor Society are CHARACTER, SCHOLARSHIP, LEADERSHIP, and SERVICE.
"Cookies with Santa" will be on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 4:30-6:30 PM at the RCSHS Viking Cafe.

The Rowan County School District, whose schools are also fully accredited, is one of only thirty-nine (39) public school districts in the Commonwealth of Kentucky to successfully complete the process to receive and maintain accreditation from AdvancED.
Kentucky Education Commissioner Stephen Pruitt will be hosting a series of regional Town Hall Meetings across the Commonwealth to gather feedback from Kentuckians on a new accountability that has been under development for the past year. The Town Hall Meeting scheduled for the Rowan County area will be on April 17, 2017 from 6:30-8:00 PM at Rowan County Senior High School’s Performing Arts Center (499 Viking Drive.)

RCSHS Prom will be held at the Morehead Conference Center on Saturday, May 6th from 8:00-11:00pm. Walk-In will begin at 6:45pm. Read more about eligibility.

The late SSgt. Daniel Fannin (Class of 2001) and former RCSHS teacher and assistant principal Nadine Griffith are the newest members inducted into the RCSHS Hall of Fame on February 2, 2017.
RCSHS Project Prom will begin on Saturday, May 6th at 11:45pm and end on Sunday, May 7th at Rowan County Senior High School. Project Prom provides a fun, safe place for students to eat, play games and win prizes after prom. Students will receive a t-shirt upon entering Project Prom. Students will not be permitted to leave project prom before 5:00am without parent permission.
Keith Prater's dedication to the game of baseball and to his players will be honored by the Cincinnati Reds on September 23, 2017.
